GROWING up in the rural village of Mandileni in KwaBhaca (Mount Frere) with no electricity and having to walk for an hour just to record his music did not deter KwaBhaca artist Anathi ‘Twister Kidd’ Sambane from pursuing his music dream.

The 21-year-old Gqom artist will release his two Gqom songs titled: The Space Package and Lovely Gqom, next month.

He described the release of the songs as his biggest success story to tell in his music career this year.

“The first song will be released on June 6 and the other one will be released on June 20; both will be available on online stores,” he explained.

He said he started singing at age 14 after he was inspired by his late brother who was also a singer.

In 2021, he released his debut Extended Play called Izifiso Zam. Apart from singing, he also takes photographs at local events. He is also a student at the University of Fort Hare. His ambitions are to work with big guns in the music industry and become an inspiration to young people.

“Now that there is electricity in my village, my music career is promising with the support of my family and friends,” he concluded.
