New vehicles for emergency response

REPORTER

THE handover of seven emergency vehicles will assist emergency teams to quickly respond to widespread disasters in the Alfred Nzo district.

The vehicles include two major pump fire engines equipped with rescue equipment and five skid units to be distributed among five centres.

The skid units contain 500 litre bakkie sackers and firefighting equipment such as fire beaters.

The Alfred Nzo District Municipality mayor Vukile Mhlelembana together with members of the Mayoral Committee handed over the new vehicles last Friday, May 9, and commemorated International Firefighters’ Day (IFFD) at eMaXesibeni (Mount Ayliff).

The municipality has become a disaster prone area.

Municipal officials said emergency vehicles will assist with speedy response since disaster season is approaching.
